Matthew was raised and schooled in Johannesburg and every family holiday was spent on the South Coast of KZN, where his love for everything ocean took hold.
After National Service Matthew achieved a National Diploma in Forestry at Saasveld. However after realising the call of the bushveld was deep in his soul, he decided to apply for a ranger’s position and training at Sabi Sabi, where he spent the next 4 years.
Thereafter Matthew got married and entered into the corporate I.T. world for the next 7 years, but the call of the wild was too strong and he spent the next 7 years starting a family and working in the Okavango Delta, Mozambique, Timbavati again, Phinda and the Serengeti as head guide and general manager.
After Covid lockdowns, which led to numerous life changing events, it finally brought Matthew to Isibindi where he first worked as General Manager at the beautiful Thonga Beach Lodge and more recently now at our Head Office where he is the Group Operations Manager.
